The Pyramid

Plot Summary

The story take place on Svalbard, the most nordic settlement in the world. A big explosion in the town mine sets of a series of mystical murders and disappearances that shock the little communit, just as the months of complete darkness sets in. Astrid Kleppen, the deputy on Svalbard is first convinced that everything is just an coincidental accident, but when she is accompanied with a emotional troubled but highly skilled policewoman from the main land, who immediately see the strangeness of the events, Astrid begins to realize something is terribly wrong. As the terror continues, the little community also starts panicking and when fear makes you blind, rage take over, and with everybody on the Island carrying a gun, the search for a perpetrator becomes the only light in the darkness..  

About 

The pyramid is a school assignment given to me at the 2nd year of my bachelor education at the Norwegian film school in Lillehammer. The task was to create the 2 first episodes of a tv-series all ready written by two screenwriter in my class. Together with one of my director colleagues, we where to direct one episode each, witch led me to embark on the second one. More specific was the assignment to interpret the script in my unike way but at the same time work together with another director to create an all over style that stitched the to episodes together so it would look and feel like the same story. By working closely with the esthetically concept and also by creating a rock solid foundation for the characters, we trained on finding the balance between the big concept line and our own personal style. 

The series has as much mystic as it has suspense, so this exercise also became a exploration in how to tell a story beneath the surface, reviling one thing at the time, to keep the audiens puzzled and thrilled, but not completely lost.
